Hysteresis in two dimensional arrays of magnetic nanoparticles

We perform computer simulations to probe the magnetic hysteresis in a two-dimensional (Lx×Ly) assembly of nanoparticles as function dipolar interaction strength hd, temperature T, aspect ratio Ar=Ly/Lx, and applied alternating field’s direction. In absence (hd?0) thermal fluctuations (T=0 K), follows Stoner Wohlfarth model, expected. For weak substantial temperature, has dominance superparamagnetic behaviour, irrespective direction Ar. Interestingly, curve all characteristics antiferromagnetic for Ar?6 considerable (hd>0.2), independent When field is along system’s shorter axis (x-direction), non-hysteresis straight line observed with large hd. case long sample (y-direction), ferromagnetic dominates hd Ar>6.
